The
Minerva MediaGateway is a DVB-to-IP demultiplexer
optimized for the distribution of multi-program digital
broadcast (DVB) streams over IP networks. The Minerva
MediaGateway bridges the gap between digital television
(DTV) broadcast and IP networks by demultiplexing DVB-ASI
streams from satellite or terrestrial sources and reformatting
them into MPEG transport streams. Many broadcast channels
are in encrypted MPEG-2 DVB format when
downloaded from satellites.
The
DVB stream is first fed into a professional Integrated
Receiver Decoder (IRD), which outputs DVB ASI to the Minerva
MediaGateway. The MediaGateway user interface automatically
displays the DVB specific IP multicast or unicast addresses.
The Minerva MediaGateway features the latest in
embedded systems technology, is a true plug-and play video
appliance, and includes an integrated HTTP server for
remote configuration and management. The MediaGateway
also supports SNMP control.

Minerva's
DVB-to-IP system supports
up to 65 Mbps of video traffic over IP. It supports multi-program
as well as single program transport streams. To provide
flexible solutions to the varying needs of network operators,
Minerva Networks has designed two lines of DVB-to-IP
demultiplexers. Operators can use the MediaGateway-200
for the digital turnaround of an entire transponder, or
through the MediaGateway-100, selectively choose
up to 6 channels of content for redistribution.
